Top Athletes Coming to Breckenridge this Weekend!

Dew Tour Event LogoWe found some really awesome information on the background of the top competitors for the weekend’s Dew tour on the Dew Tour’s Facebook Page and wanted to share the line up and their bios with you. Check out below and get psyched. This weekend is going to go off!

Top competitor’s bios:

Bobby Brown
Age: 20
Hometown: Breckenridge, CO
Known for his ability to throw double flips, this Breckenridge local is both a slopestyle and big air specialist. In his first major comp, Brown won the ‘09/10 Winter Dew Tour event in slope and went on to win the New Zealand Open. In 2010, Brown claimed double gold in slopestyle and big air at X Games. With skills like no other, last season he took home the Dew Cup in slope.

Sammy Carlson
Age: 22
Hometown: Tigard, OR
Skiing since the age of four, and with Windell’s Camp at Mt. Hood pretty much right in his backyard, Sammy’s abilities as a technical new-school skier quickly got him noticed. He’s landed a switch triple rodeo 1260 and has filmed with Matchstick Productions, Rage Films and Poor Boyz. He is also a top competitor, with medals from X Games, Dew Tour and podiums from the top freeski competitions around the world.

Kevin Rolland
Age: 22
Hometown: La Plagne, France
After finishing third in Breckenridge and winning in Killington, Kevin came into the finals tied for the Cup with Simon Dumont. The Frenchman’s whiskey double flip and massive double cork 1260 earned him his first Dew Cup. Earlier in the season, he collected his second straight X Games gold in superpipe. He sets goals and knows how to achieve them, so don’t expect the defending champ to hand over his hardware this season.

Jossi Wells
Age: 21
Hometown: Wanaka, New Zealand
Jossi hails from a little ski town in New Zealand, where his dad was ski patrol at the local resort. At only 9 years old he won the Rip Curl Heli Challenge. The Nike athlete has been on the podiums in nearly all the major events, was the youngest skier at Winter X Games, and last winter a documentary was released on him and his younger brothers who all compete and train together.

Torin Yater –Wallace
Age: 15
Hometown: Basalt, CO
Torin is the future of skiing who earned his way up to the pro ranks through the Gatorade Free Flow Tour. Raised just outside Aspen, his skills in the pipe defy his age. He was the youngest Winter X Games medalist after taking silver last year in pe, and hipe was named Ball Park Rookie of the Year on the Dew Tour. He’s serious about his professional career, trains hard and gets results.

Mason Aguirre
Age: 23
Hometown: Duluth, MN
Mason and his family moved from the Midwest to Mammoth Lakes, CA when he was in the eighth grade so he could focus on snowboarding. The move paid off and at the age of 15 he turned pro. Since then the Nike rider has earned a spot on the 2006 Olympic team, collected a TTR title and even started a headphone company with fellow pros in the Frends crew.

Danny Davis
Age: 23
Hometown: Highland, MI
This Michigan-native’s pro career took off when he was named Rookie of the Year after a podium-fueled ‘05/06 season. He’s racked up wins in superpipe and is just as comfortable in the backcountry. His style in the pipe can put even Shaun White out of contention. He’s had to deal with injuries in recent years, but when he’s healthy he dominates the contest scene, while still finding time to film amazing video parts.

Torstein Horgmo
Age: 24
Hometown: Trondheim, Norway
Norwegian rider Torstein continually sets the bar in snowboarding slopestyle. He’s got double cork 10s on lockdown – switch and regular, his rail skills are impeccable, and he’s got a smooth street style that earned him the first slopestyle Dew Cup of his career last season. Keep an eye out for Torstein blasting huge airs and putting his technical skills to good use on his affectionately named snowboard “Nicole.”

Scotty Lago
Age: 24
Hometown: Seabrook, NH

A favorite among fans and fellow riders, Scotty has the skills to back up his popularity. He won the bronze medal in pipe at the 2010 Olympics, and he’s a big contender in slopestyle competitions as well. He’s part of the Frends crew and also films for the leading snowboard films. A stylish rider with a smooth nose-grab 900 and plenty more tricks up his sleeve, he’s definitely one to watch.

Louie Vito B
Age: 23
Hometown: Bellefontaine, OH
In 2005 at age 17, Louie busted onto the snowboarding scene with big superpipe finishes at the Burton New Zealand and Australian Open. Today, the Nike rider is known for his technical riding, double cork mastery and smooth back-to-back 1080s. He earned his first Dew Cup in pipe last year, so keep an eye on the defending champ this season.

Shaun White
Age: 25
Hometown: Carlsbad, CA
This two-time Olympic gold medalist needs no introductions. With a Dew Cup in both slope and pipe from the inaugural Winter Dew Tour, Shaun’s the only athlete to also earn a skate vert Cup on the summer Dew Tour. As if that’s not enough, he just launched his own product line, Shaun White Supply Co. White goes out to win, and he pulls from his deep bag of tricks to get the job done.
