Don’t miss out! The Running of the Santas is This Weekend!

Participants lined up for the Santa Race in Breckenridge That’s right. This year is the inaugural Running of the Santas in Breckenridge! As a part of the Lighting of Breckenridge, the annual town tree lighting celebration and procession, the Santas will run at 4 p.m. followed by the Main Street procession with Santa to the Blue River Plaza and the lighting of the town tree. The “race” will take place on Main Street and is open to anyone 18 or older. According to one prospective Santa inspired by the movie Bad Santa, the race is the perfect opportunity to “party on Breckenridge’s Main Street.”

The race will be staged at Main Street Station on the south end of Main Street and the race will be run going north along Main Street. The one rule is that all entrants must be dressed as Santa. It will be worth coming just to see all of the different interpretations of Santa’s suit. The race also supports a good cause. All of the proceeds from the race will be donated to “Adopt an Angel,” A local organization dedicated to helping families in need in Summit County.

It is not too late to sign up for this event so if you are a bit adventurous… Just do it!! The cost to enter is $10.00 if you supply your own Santa Suit, $20.00 and you receive and economy Santa Suit (open to the first 50 registered—you keep the suit) or $40.00 and you get a deluxe Santa Suit (open to the first 50 registered—you keep the suit)

So if you are interested in running don’t wait especially if you want a suit! Contact Sandy Metzger at 970-453-5074 to sign up!

Shows sell out quickly, so get your tickets online!  You can purchase online at http://www.backstagetheatre.org/pages/index.htm, reservations are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome.  The Backstage Theatre is conveniently located in downtown Breckenridge, at 121 South Ridge Street.  If you would like more information, please contact the Backstage at 970-453-0199.  Please take advantage of this special local theatre next time you’re in Breckenridge – you won’t regret it!
